Cashmere - a material that is considered a luxury, is a product of violence. Cashmere is obtained from the fleece of a special kind of goat, and the price paid for this material, to end up on store shelves, is too high and bloody.

When you walk past the shelf with eggs in the grocery store, they feature pictures of happy birds with shiny feathers, and phrases such as "cage-free" and "free-range" are written all over the place.

Today we celebrate the World Vegan Day, which was created 28 years ago as an example of a lifestyle, personal choice and perseverance as a revolt against the cruelty of the dairy, meat and egg industries.

The Parliament of Latvia, known as the Saeima, supported a total ban on breeding animals for fur in Latvia, which will come into force in 2028.
